CSU – MSCRC Study Consultants Serve as Resource Speaker During the Workshop on Statistical Data Analysis: Phase II


Four (4) study consultants of the Mathematical and Statistical Computing and Research Center (MSCRC) of Caraga State University served as resource speakers during the conduct of the Workshop on Statistical Data Analysis: Phase II last September 26 – 27, 2019 held at Grand Palace Hotel and Convention, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

The said workshop was hosted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga through the Caraga Health Research and Development Consortium (CHRDC) spearheaded by its Consortium Director and at the same time the Regional Director of DOST Caraga. CHRDC invited four (4) study consultants of MSCRC to be the resource speakers of the workshop, namely; Ms. Karen B. Burdeos, Ms. Sheila Rae E. Permanes, Mr. Jan Nino G. Tinio, and Mr. Breix Michael G. Agua.

Five (5) topics in research and Statistics were discussed and hands-on applications using statistical software were also given during the workshop. Ms. Burdeos talked about the overview of quantitative research and data analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis. Descriptive analysis, and common statistical test assumptions were discussed by Ms. Permanes. In addition, Mr. Tinio talked about tests for significant difference. Moreover, tests for significant relationship and association was discussed by Mr. Agua.

The two-day workshop was realized to capacitate health researchers on the necessary tools needed in order to accomplish their respective studies which is line with the goal of CHRDC to produce quality health researches in the region. It was attended by researchers from different agencies, including; DOH CHD Caraga, PhilHealth Caraga, DepEd Caraga, CSU, FSUU, SSCT, and SPUS.
